At the Recycling Appeal, we believe in the power of recycling. Not only does recycling protect the environment, it changes lives. A big statement? Yes, but as we currently run more than 100 charitable or cause based Recycling Appeals, we think we’re on to something.
Strong Credentials
The Recycling Appeal is run by Redeem Plc, an award winning firm started in 1999 as Eurosource Europe. When Redeem realised that most used mobile phones and printer cartridges were being thrown in the bin we created the Recycling Appeal, a socially conscious collections programme that would help us influence customer behaviour while benefiting worthy causes. Through the Recycling Appeal Redeem has helped various organisations raise more than €2.4 million for good causes.
Redeem has headquarters in Falkirk, Scotland, and a Processing Centre in County Meath, Ireland. Our headquarter facilities have been accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996 standards, and have an Eco Management Audit Scheme (EMAS). These accreditations demonstrate our commitment to operating responsibly and offer both our customers and partners peace of mind.
Positive Impacts
Printer cartridges and mobile phones collected by Redeem are recovered, segregated and packaged, to either be sent on for end of life recycling or reuse throughout the world. By reusing and recycling the raw materials in these products, energy which would have been used to create new items is saved, the drain on natural resources is lessened and the amount of waste going to landfill is reduced. Redeem is proud to have diverted more than 2000 tonnes from landfill – that’s good news for all of us!
