Ireland Urged to Spring Clean for Concern!

Players from Munster Rugby Club urged the people of Ireland to have a spring clean and raise funds for Concern as they launched the charity’s new mobile phone and printer cartridge Recycling Appeal today (16th April 2007).

It is estimated that there are 15 million old mobiles lying around in drawers and cupboards across Ireland just waiting for a spring clean. If you have any why not dust them down and donate them to the Concern Recycling Appeal? The appeal can turn these old handsets and used printer cartridges into valuable cash so next time you are about to drop your empty cartridge in the bin - stop and drop it into one of Concern’s Freepost envelopes instead.

Funds generated from the Recycling Appeal help the charity continue their vital work for people living in extreme poverty. From long term development work to emergency response, Concern seeks to tackle the root causes of poverty through education and advocacy, helping those in need help themselves.

Supporting the Concern Recycling Appeal is also an easy way to help our environment. If thrown in the bin mobile phones and printer cartridges end up in landfill where the toxic substances they contain can leak into the soil surrounding landfill sites, damaging plant and wildlife. There is also trouble at the top of the site where decomposing waste produces the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane; so the less waste we put in landfill the better it is for climate change.

The Concern Recycling Appeal makes it easy to Spring clean and go green. To support the appeal simply visit www.recyclingappeal.ie/concern or call 1800 933 616.
